Earthquake in Japan: shipment sanitary products & diapers

Oxfam is working together with people in 98 countries around the world to end poverty and injustice. Oxfam Japan is working in partnership with the Japan Organization for International Cooperation on Family Planning (JOICFP) to aid women and babies that have been affected by the earthquake and the tsunami in some of the devastated areas. Particularly pregnant women remain vulnerable after the disaster, and Oxfam’s partner is helping to deliver the necessary support to them.

Under the current difficult conditions, we managed to make the first shipment including sanitary products, diapers, and masks to Iwate Prefecture on 19th March .

Local networks are getting organized to deliver support materials to those in need. For example, Oxfam Japan will deliver the first shipment, together with the Iwate Chapter of the Japanese Midwives’ Association and the Iwate Health Service Association. We will also ship baby food and clothes for children and women to the devastated city of Tagajyo, in Miyagi Prefecture.
