Oxfam has been listening to the needs of women and been working closely with the Women’s Center as well as with the Iwate Chapter of the Japanese Midwives’ Association. Oxfam’s partner, the Japan Organization for International Cooperation on Family Planning (JOICFP) is working around the clock to respond to various requests by delivering much-needed support to these women.
The midwives in the area will directly deliver the materials shipped to the Women’s Center in Morioka, and hand it to pregnant women and local support groups in this disaster area. At the same time, the midwives will provide the women with necessary pre-natal and post-natal care.
