■Topic - Tax Havens and Global Poverty
To most people place names like the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas and the Maldives conjure up images of celebrities and sun-kissed beaches. Think of Macao, Switzerland, and Monaco and it's mysterious banks, casinos and James Bond. But did you know that these and other tax havens have helped enable the largest ever shift of global wealth from poor to rich?
We invite you to join our interactive workshop and learn more about the often overlooked issues surrounding tax havens and global poverty. We will learn how secrecy in the financial world helps multinational corporations avoid paying tax, as well as allowing corrupt individuals to steal billions from the world's poorest countries - and what together we can do about it.
