The 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake

In response to the earthquakes that have affected Kumamoto and the neighboring prefectures since April 14th, Oxfam Japan is not engaging in life saving operations in the initial emergency phase. However, extensive damages on infrastructure and housing implicate that the reconstruction process may be lengthy. Oxfam Japan is working with other agencies to monitor the situation and to assess the needs of the communities affected, exploring where we could be of potential added value.

We will keep you updated on Oxfam Japan's engagement through our website and various social media channels. We appreciate your understanding and continued support.

Our thoughts are with those individuals, families and friends affected at this difficult time.
